We had a request for a few tips to help talk parents into buying you an airsoft gun. Well, it was tough because it all is about personal responsibility. Parents don't buy airsoft guns for several reasons.
1 - This stuff ain't cheap.
2 - Your parents are tired of picking up, stepping over, or in general messing with your stuff. They need more of your stuff in the hallway like they need a hole in the head.
3 - They don't want you to get blown away by someone who thinks you have a real gun.
All this gets down to how you act. Personal responsibility.
1 - This stuff isn't cheap. Offer to work it off. Use your birthday money. Help your Granny clean out her garage. Sorry, no easy answer here. Try and negotiate. They pay half for your birthday, etc.
2 - Sorry. But if you are guilty of this one, you'll have only one way out. Clean it up. Suck it up. Hey, if your folks have to ask you 12 times to take out the trash, what is the chance you'll keep this in the box or bag? Negotiate with you parents. They'll be shocked.
3 - What is your plan for responsible ownership? Gun bag? Cool. Where will you play? The local park? Bad idea. See if there is a place to play that the local law enforcement folks approve. www.milsimtactical.com Here is a great place that is safe for everyone. You may not live in Southern California, but you can find a place if you try.
OK guys, that's it for advice. Email me or post if you have some good ideas on how to get your folks on your side.
